2008 Special Places Program
Overview
Soon enough it will be spring in Wisconsin and time to dust off your paddle gear for another
season on the water!
FWWA has planned its 2008 Special Places Program of monthly paddle events around the
Fox-Wolf Basin from May through October. This year's planned trips include several new
locations as well as the 7th annual Park-to-Park Heritage Paddle from Neenah to Appleton. As in
past years, each event is planned for about three hours of flat water paddling, unless windy
conditions generate wave action. All paddles are scheduled to start with a launch site
rendezvous at 8:30 a.m. and a pre-paddle shuttle unless otherwise noted in the trip detail.
This year, our planned paddles mix a focus on conservation efforts and wildlife as well as
urban development. As in 2007, many of the paddle events will be supported by local sporting
goods stores or conservation organizations thanks to Darrell Toliver's efforts.
Past Trip Information
Looking for ideas on paddles in Northeastern Wisconsin, but don't know where to go? Launch
location and route information from many of FWWA's past Special Places Program paddles are
available on this website, also under the Special Places Program links.
Participant Responsibility
Finally, a necessary word or two about participation with us on these events: FWWA will ask
participants in the Special Places Program to sign a liability waiver acknowledging their
understanding of the risks involved with the activity involved. Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance is
an independent, non-profit organization that identifies issues and advocates effective policies
and actions to protect, restore and sustain the water resources of Wisconsin's Fox-Wolf River
Basin.
The Special Places Program is offered to provide an opportunity for residents of the basin
to explore the watershed and gain a better understanding of its characteristics and conditions.
FWWA does not provide instruction in water sports skills or safety and will not provide and/or
maintain maps, personal flotation devices, paddles, watercraft and/or other equipment.
Participants associated with FWWA will also not train or supervise participants during or
following Special Places Program activities. A copy of our Liability Waiver form can be
downloaded and printed from the www.FWWA.org website.
